No water jacket, no radiator. Oil temperature, head shrouds and valve clearances, on cars and bikes.
Air-Cooled is a custodianship club. Oil doing the job a radiator normally does, oil coolers and thermostats, cylinder head temperature sensors and where to mount them, fan belts, shrouds and the tinware everybody removes and later regrets removing, valve clearances measured in running hours rather than years, carburettor jetting for altitude and heat, and the traffic problem: these engines cool by moving.
For verified owners of an air-cooled car or motorcycle, from a Beetle or an air-cooled 911 to any air-cooled bike still in use.
What happens here: oil and head temperature logs by climate, oil choice argued with used oil analysis rather than habit, valve and tappet threads with intervals and feeler gauge numbers, tinware and shroud restoration, carburettor and ignition setup, parts sourcing for engines nobody supports any more, and long drives and rides planned around heat rather than distance.
