WHERE THIS CAME FROM.

The list of makes, models and generations you pick from when you add a machine was compiled from several open datasets and then curated by hand. A row exists here because we judged it real and relevant to India, the United Arab Emirates or the United States, not because a dataset contained it.

• VehiclesDB, by the VehiclesDB project, used under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International licence.
• Vehicle year, make and model data by Arthur C. Kao, used under the MIT licence.
• Vehicle makes, models, generations and engine specifications by Mina Sameh. The data in that project is published under the Open Database Licence 1.0 and was itself compiled from publicly available information on autoevolution.com.
• An open make, model, year and style database published by Peter Lowman.
• A dataset of United Arab Emirates market vehicle listings, used to judge which models are common in the Gulf.

Manufacturer and model names are descriptive labels used to identify vehicles our members own. Octane Department is independent and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by any vehicle manufacturer.

Club covers and the photographs behind our pages come from Wikimedia Commons and from Unsplash. We use only images whose licence permits commercial use, and we reject anything marked non-commercial or no-derivatives.

Where a licence asks for credit, the photographer, the licence and a link to the original are shown on the page that carries the photograph, so the credit travels with the image rather than being buried here.

Photographs taken by members of their own machines belong to those members. They are shown on Octane Department with permission and are not covered by any of the licences above.

The manufacturer marks shown on club covers and marque rails are used to identify a make. Each one was sourced from Wikimedia Commons and only where it is in the public domain or published under a licence permitting commercial use.
