Dakar, Baja and cross-country rally. Roadbooks, navigation and machines built to survive a week of it.
Desert Racing is the long-range offroad club: roadbook and cap heading navigation, where a rally raid differs from a stage rally, suspension travel and damper choices for hundreds of kilometres of open desert, cooling and air filtration in sand, fuel range and bivouac servicing, tracker and safety system requirements, and the class structures that separate a prototype from a production truck or a rally bike.
For verified owners who compete in, service or marshal cross-country rallies, from a national desert event up to the Dakar Rally and the Baja 1000. Navigators and mechanics are welcome.
What happens here: roadbook and navigation practice, suspension and damper setup threads with stage distances and speeds, cooling, filtration and dust management, spare and service planning for remote stages, recovery and survival kit lists, tracker and safety equipment requirements by event, and stage reports covering what broke and what fixed it.
