The Mint 400 in March, the Parker 400 in January, and a season that runs October to April.
Desert Southwest Chapter covers Arizona, Nevada, southern California and southern New Mexico. The desert racing calendar is the spine of it. The Parker 400 runs in January, the Mint 400 in March with its parade down the Las Vegas Strip and the racing out at Primm, and King of the Hammers brings rock crawling and desert racing together at Johnson Valley in February. Best in the Desert and Unlimited Off-Road Racing merged into the American Off-Road Racing Championship for 2026, so if you are looking for the old names, that is where they went.
On tarmac there is Firebird Motorsports Park at Chandler, which still gets called Wild Horse Pass by everyone who lived here before the rename, with a quarter mile strip and two road courses. Arizona Car Week fills Scottsdale every January.
The season runs October to April and that is not negotiable. Cooling capacity, fluid choice, battery age and tyre date codes matter more here than in any other part of the country, and a car that is fine in March is a car with a problem in July.
For any car or motorcycle owner in the desert Southwest. Open with approval, and an ownership photo so chapter runs are made of real vehicles.
What happens here: the desert race calendar with entry, crewing and spectating threads, group entries at Firebird, Arizona Car Week planning, heat management threads on cooling, fluids, batteries and tyre age, recovery, water and self sufficiency standards for anyone going off pavement, and shop and fabrication referrals across the region.
