Mountains on one side, the Gulf of Oman on the other. Masafi in, the corniche back.
Fujairah Chapter is the east coast's club. It is the only emirate that sits on the Gulf of Oman rather than the Arabian Gulf, and it feels like a different country: the Hajar mountains on one side, water on the other, and air that is noticeably cooler and wetter than the west coast in the same month.
The crossing in is over Masafi, where the Friday market sits at the junction, and the way back is the corniche road running from Kalba up through Khor Fakkan, which belongs to Sharjah, and on to Dibba. Wadi Wurayah behind Fujairah city was the first protected mountain area in the country, 220 sq km of it, with waterfalls and pools in the season. Wadi Sana on the Masafi to Dibba road is the other one people name.
A lot of members here live on the other coast and drive over for the morning. That is how the east coast has always worked and nobody minds.
For any car or motorcycle owner in Fujairah and the east coast. Open with approval, and an ownership photo so chapter runs are made of real machines.
What happens here: route cards for the Masafi crossing and the corniche, wadi track notes and what needs four wheel drive and what does not, weather and flash flood warnings in the wet months, workshop and tyre referrals on this side of the mountains, coastal photography stops, and hosting for members driving over for the day.
