Power is easy, weight is expensive. Cars built to be light, and the kilograms taken out of them.
Lightweight Sports Cars is a club for people who take weight out rather than power in. Corner weights and a weighbridge ticket instead of a brochure figure, where the mass actually sits in a given platform, seats, glass, sound deadening, wiring and wheels ranked by kilograms per unit of money, the point at which removal starts costing usability, and what a light car does to braking distance, tyre choice and the way it holds a line.
For owners of light sports cars as built, and for anyone lightening what they already have. Purpose-built roadsters, small mid-engined cars, stripped saloons and kit-built machines all belong here.
What happens here: before and after weights with the ticket photographed, parts lists ranked by kilograms saved per unit of cost, seat, glass and wiring threads, brake and tyre choices that suit a light car rather than a heavy one, and drives where the road matters more than the straight.
