Moreeb Dune, the Liwa crescents and the long road down from Abu Dhabi. Self-sufficient desert driving.
Liwa & The Deep Desert is the serious end of sand driving. The face at Moreeb Dune, the crescent dunes south of the Liwa oasis, the 250 km run down from Abu Dhabi through Madinat Zayed, and the winter festival weeks when most of the scene moves down there. What gets planned here: fuel range in soft sand with a heavy right foot, water per person per day, spare and puncture strategy, satellite messengers and radios where there is no signal at all, and the recovery plan for a buried car with nobody else within 40 km.
For verified owners of a prepared low-range 4x4 with rated recovery points, long-range fuel and a way to call for help. Sand experience is expected. This is not where you learn it.
What happens here: multi-day crossings with camp logistics, festival-week convoys, navigation and GPS track sharing, recovery and self-rescue practice, vehicle-prep sessions on cooling, filtration and fuel range, and a shared hazard map.
