The Kancamagus, the Mount Washington Auto Road, and a rally school that teaches you on snow.
New England Chapter covers Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut and Rhode Island. The Kancamagus Highway runs 35 miles between Lincoln and Conway through the White Mountains, and in the first fortnight of October it is the reason the whole region is booked out. Route 100 down Vermont, and Route 2 and the Mohawk Trail across northern Massachusetts.
The Mount Washington Auto Road opened in 1861, which makes it the oldest man made attraction in the country. 7.6 miles to the summit, about half an hour up, and the Climb to the Clouds hillclimb has been run on it since 1904.
Three circuits are within reach of most of the region: Lime Rock Park in Connecticut, Thompson Speedway with its oval and road course, and Palmer Motorsport Park in western Massachusetts.
And the winter is not something to survive here, it is something to learn. Team O'Neil in Dalton, New Hampshire, has been teaching car control on snow and gravel on 583 acres for decades, and the New England Forest Rally runs as an American Rally Association round with a World Rally Championship round planned for 2027.
For any car or motorcycle owner in New England. Open with approval, and an ownership photo so chapter runs are made of real vehicles.
What happens here: foliage season route cards for the Kancamagus, Route 100 and the Mohawk Trail, Mount Washington Auto Road planning and brake advice for the descent, group entries at Lime Rock, Palmer and Thompson, winter driving school and rally spectating threads, storage and undercarriage protection, and shop and rust repair referrals across six states.
