Racing on closed public roads. Kerbs, walls, gateposts and a course you learn by heart.
Road Racing is the discipline run on roads that are closed for the occasion. There is no run-off, the surface changes every few hundred metres, and the course is learned on foot and on video long before it is learned at speed. Gearing chosen for one road, suspension set for camber and crests rather than kerbs, brake and tyre wear over a lap measured in minutes, and a mental map that has to be complete before the flag drops.
For competitors, newcomers working towards a licence, and the crews and officials who make these events happen. Cars and motorcycles both.
What happens here: course notes and learning laps shared frame by frame, gearing and setup threads by event, licensing routes and what each one asks for, mentoring between experienced competitors and newcomers, paddock and travel arrangements, and safety debriefs written to be useful rather than comfortable.
