Souq Al Haraj and the industrial areas, Big Red on a Friday, and Khor Fakkan on the far coast.
Sharjah Chapter covers the emirate on both coasts. The industrial areas and Al Sajaa hold the workshops, and Souq Al Haraj is where the used cars, the parts and the auctions have been pulled together into one place. It is cheaper than Dubai and it is not worse, but it takes local knowledge to tell one unit from the next.
Al Badayer and Big Red on the Al Madam plateau, about 65 km south-east of the city, are where most people in this country first drove on sand. Further along the Sharjah to Kalba road are Al Faya, whose iron rich sand runs red and whose dunes are steeper than Badayer's, and Fossil Rock near Mleiha, which is a limestone outcrop with 70 million year old marine fossils in the ground around it.
The Sharjah Classic Car Museum has been open since 2008 with more than 100 cars from 1915 to 1987 in it. And Khor Fakkan, on the Gulf of Oman, is Sharjah's too, which catches out almost every newcomer.
For any car or motorcycle owner in Sharjah. Open with approval, and an ownership photo so chapter runs are made of real machines.
What happens here: workshop and parts referrals across the industrial areas and Souq Al Haraj, graded sand runs at Badayer, Al Faya and Fossil Rock, deflation and recovery discipline, route cards across to Khor Fakkan and Kalba, museum and classic ownership threads, and meet listings across the emirate.
