Skyline Drive on a clear morning, Summit Point track days, and three rulebooks inside 20 miles.
Washington DC Chapter covers the District, Northern Virginia and the Maryland suburbs. Skyline Drive runs 109 miles through Shenandoah National Park with 75 overlooks on it, and at 35 miles an hour it is a road you look at rather than attack. The Blue Ridge Parkway picks up where it ends.
Summit Point in West Virginia is the track: a two mile main circuit and the tighter one point one mile Jefferson circuit, about ninety minutes out.
The thing nobody warns you about is the paperwork. The District, Virginia and Maryland each have their own inspection, emissions and registration rules, and you can cross between all three inside 20 miles. A modification that is fine on one side of the river is a failed inspection on the other.
For any car or motorcycle owner in Washington, DC, Northern Virginia and Maryland. Open with approval, and an ownership photo so chapter runs are made of real vehicles.
What happens here: meet listings across the District, Northern Virginia and the Maryland suburbs, route cards for Skyline Drive and the Shenandoah, group entries at Summit Point, a plain comparison of inspection and emissions rules in all three jurisdictions, parking and storage that people are willing to share, and shop referrals by side of the river.
