Compass 2.0 diesel going into regeneration every 250 km in city use
Model S (O), 2.0 MultiJet automatic, 38,000 km. Bengaluru, so the car spends most of its life between 0 and 30 kmh.
The car started a regeneration cycle roughly every 250 km through last month. I know it by the idle climbing, the cooling fan staying on after shutdown and the smell. Highway runs are the opposite, I have done Bengaluru to Coorg and back without it starting once.
What I have done so far: switched to a longer weekend run every fortnight, stopped short trips under 3 km where I can, and had the intake cleaned at 35,000 km. The workshop says the car is behaving exactly as designed for my usage and that nothing is wrong.
Two things I want from other Compass diesel owners
- What interval are you actually seeing in city driving, and does 250 km sound normal to you
- If you have crossed 80,000 km on mostly city use, did anything change
Also worth knowing: what did the cleaning or replacement cost you, and where did you get it done. I would rather plan for it than be surprised by it.
